Singapore Police warn of a malware-enabled scam spread through fake social media ads, mainly on Facebook, promoting senior activities, water fitness and recycling programmes. Victims who install a malicious Android app get calls from scammers posing as officials or bank staff, and the malware can enable unauthorised transactions.
What to do: Install apps only from official app stores, keep Google Play Protect on, add the ScamShield app, and call the ScamShield Helpline on 1799 if unsure.
